What if Beauty Didn’t Matter?
I got into a mini discussion with someone on Facebook and I thought it might make an interesting topic of debate so I posed the question on IHateMyMessageBoard – a forum primarily populated by women. To join the conversation, leave a comment or go here.
What if women in society were all considered universally and equally beautiful. To clarify – imagine that what is attractive to one man is exactly the same to another. Not that all women look exactly the same – however theoretically the same debate would apply.
How would it affect the rules of attraction? How about the rules of courtship and dating? What would happen to the shallow empty headed eye-candy who’s only qualities are aesthetic? Would they sink to the bottom of the female food chain?
And if we really want to be snarky, would your husband still choose you? Guys, would you still choose your wife in this scenario? What if you could get a smarter, more interesting woman who was equally as attractive?
In other words, imagine a world where Paris Hilton had NOTHING TO OFFER ![]()

Well. Women, imagine a world where all men had the exact same amount of money, investments and inheritances. They all could provide the exact same “meal ticket,” as it were. What qualities would women give it up for? Looks, brains, taste in clothes, cars, wine? How often he goes down on you? The quality of jewelry he buys you? What?
Andrea,
You should pose this question on the message board linked. If you look at the thread… the answers were different than I expected.
If money and influence were non-factors and I could rely on looks, humor, and frequency of cunnilingus… well I don’t know but that’s a world I long for.
