Link Exchange Policy
Added 4-4-09
I didn’t think this was going to be necessary, but due to the growing number of link exchange requests I’ve been getting in the past few weeks, I’ve decided to write a policy on the subject.
Quite plainly, I am reluctant to engage in any link exchange arrangements where reciprocity is required. Here’s why:
EVERY SINGLE ONE of the webmasters who’ve written me lately only cared about driving traffic to their site and boosting their search engine mojo. This site had nothing to do with their content, and vice versa. The emails I received were canned letters and I consider them to be borderline spam.
That said, there are circumstances where a link exchange agreement makes sense. I’ve agreed to them in the past, but only because the other site was something that I thought the readers here may find enjoyable, like Rantlister.com, for example. And, I am not rigidly opposed to them in the future.
If you want to propose such an arrangement, follow these guideline when contacting me:
1) Don’t send me a form letter. I’ll immediately disregard it.
2) Explain to me why you think the readers of this site will like what you’re doing on yours. If you can’t do this, it’ll be obvious that you have no idea what this site is about.
3) Don’t offer to link back. If you think your visitors will like unpaidentertainer.com, there should be a link to it already.
